Citrus and Rosemary Simmer Pot
Skip the candle with this simple simmer pot made with fresh oranges, grapefruit, and rosemary. You can slice up fresh fruit, or simply use the scraps and leftover peels you have leftover from other recipes.
Ingredients
- 1 orange
- 1 grapefruit
- Fresh rosemary, a couple sprigs (could also use fresh mint)
- Water, enough to cover the ingredients
Instructions
- Slice the Citrus: Wash the orange and grapefruit, then slice each fruit into thin rounds or wedges. (You can also use scraps and leftover peels instead of using the whole fruit
- Add to the pot: Place the sliced citrus into a medium saucepan or simmer pot.
- Add Water: Pour enough water into the pot to cover the fruit and other ingredients.
- Simmer and Enjoy: Warm the pot over low heat until it reaches a gentle simmer. Allow the citrus and rosemary to release their fragrance throughout your home. Add more water as it evaporates. You can simmer it for 30 minutes, or 4 hours! Just keep an eye on the water.
Notes
- Use Fresh Citrus: Fresh oranges, lemons, and limes provide a bright, refreshing aroma.
- Customize the Fragrance: Try adding mint, cinnamon sticks, or fresh ginger for a different scent.
- Add Water as Needed: Check the pot frequently and replenish the water as it evaporates. Never allow the pot to boil dry.
- Practice Stove Safety: Never leave a simmer pot unattended. Turn off the heat whenever you leave the room for an extended period, and always before leaving home or going to sleep.
